About Us...

In 1996, the purchase of a herd of alpaca by family members started our deep and enduring attraction to these incredible animals. EmirEcho

In 2002 we started Tarraganda Lodge Alpaca and have since created purpose built infrastructure at Tallong NSW.

Specialising in grey and black Huacaya, our dedication to breeding strong, well conformed alpaca and the ongoing development towards advanced coloured Huacaya fleece, has been rewarded by many successes at highly competitive shows.

Our Commitment to Alpaca Industry...

  • We are members of Australian Alpaca Association (AAA) Ltd.

  • In 2005 Libby was appointed Chair of AAA Ltd Animal Health, Husbandry & Welfare Committee responsible for national animal health initiatives and biosecurity.
  • Libby has authored a number of alpaca health articles that have since been reproduced by overseas associations and she is frequently requested to talk on animal health, husbandry and biosecurity at industry and new breeder workshops.
  • Libby has represented the Australian Alpaca Industry at extensive animal industries forums and state government consultative committees.
  • Recognising a gap in affiliated services for alpaca breeders, Libby in partnership with Tracy Pratt of Tallo Alpacas started Camelid Health Supplies (Aust) supplying Australian and overseas alpaca breeders with animal health and husbandry supplies.
  • In 2007 Libby was elected to the AAA Ltd Board of Directors and held the national portfolio of Animal Health, Husbandry & Welfare for two years. Since retiring from the Board of Directors, Libby continues in the position of Chair of Animal Health, Husbandry & Welfare Reference Panel and is the AAA Ltd representative on the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) National Consultative Committee.
